I have had the privellege of spending the last 30 years coaching precious people just like you and I thank you for this opportunity to share with you the many, amazing things I have learned so you might find relief in knowing it is far simpler to take back control of your heath, vitality and happiness than you  may currently think.

The most valuable lesson my life as a coach has taught me is that we are all our own best teachers and somehow everyone of us inherently knows best what is right for us. My intention is to offer you guidance from my life experience to help you find clarity about the over complicated,  misinformation being sold to you everyday under the false premise of helping you when so often it is really about profitability. I believe that seeking knowledge and self education is the only way to personal power and freedom so if you feel stuck in a place of confusion, disillusion and ill health, if you are willing to look you will find release here.

Health, vitality and harmony are all natural to your body and the best way to get there from here and stay on the path is to do it in a way that is simple, fun and achievable to you from wherever you are right now. Yes, that’s right..no gruelling training sessions (unless you enjoy them)..no boring, restrictive, nutrient deprived diets..no unrealistic, unachievable expectations of perfection.  This is about helping you plan your own life so you can evolve in your own time and on your own terms. You will never feel deprived or like you have failed so you will never feel the need to quit or give up! Instead you will feel a sense of ongoing achievement and purpose that will naturally keep you inspired! I will show you how to get back to basics and rediscover your own infinite wisdom and guidance so your life can start right now to feel less stressful and more fun and enjoyable again.

So here is the list in order from left to right which works best for me but if you are a rebel at heart and want to work through it in your own order I praise you for taking the first step in your own knowing of what works best for you. This is the  only way to know how well it works. Work through the list in your own space and time, preferably without interruption..put the kids out, lock the door, turn off the phone and give some time to you!

Our bodies and almost every living thing around us are predominantly made up of water. Our brains are around 80% water and we can only live without water for about 10 days.

Water provides us with energy by carrying nutrients and all vital substances around the body. It also plays an essential role in weight loss, detoxification, digestion, circulation, temperature regulation and it gives your skin its healthy glow.

Most human beings live in a constant state of dehydration. One of the first symptoms of dehydration is tiredness so if you want to enjoy high energy levels you must make sure you are drinking plenty of filtered ph balanced water and eating lots of water rich foods. Your diet should consist of at least 70% water-rich foods and anything less than 15% in your diet is suicide. The average person consumes around 40%-50%. How much are you getting?

There is a mountain of evidence to support the fact that our modern western diet is the cause of many of our aches, pains, illnesses and even deaths.

We live in a world that is so profit driven. If you believed the hype of modern day advertising you would surely be on a fast track to ill health. One of our biggest challenges is learning to wade through the hype and use our common sense to figure out what foods support our health and naturally lead to a lean body and healthy skin and what foods are leading us to a slow painful death.

If you lack energy it is your bodies way of telling you it is toxic and the more you let those toxins continue to build the more severe your symptoms will become.

One of the easiest things to do is to start to listen to your body. Take notice of how you are feeling after consuming foods you think may cause you problems such as digestive issues, nausea or tiredness. Avoid the diet roller coaster by following a maintainable, healthy eating plan that includes foods to support the elimination process so detoxing is a part of your every day life not something you do massively in a binge like fashion.

AEROBIC TRAINING-THE ESSENTIAL HEALTH BENEFITS

Before you take up any other type of exercise it is essential to first build a good aerobic base. Aerobic training helps your lungs work more efficiently, it helps your blood to flow better, it increases your blood supply, helps you grow healthier tissues, improves heart function, aids digestion and elimination, helps you sleep better, provides stress relief and improves your sense of well-being. Need I say more?

In all my years as a coach the most common mistake I see people make is they go too hard and burn out (the exercise roller coaster). You don’t need to go out and take up marathon running. You don’t need fancy equipment, you don’t need to join the gym just find an aerobic activity that you enjoy, work out at your target heart rate, warm up before you start and cool down when you finish. There are many formulas for optimizing your workout but don’t overcomplicate it. Start slowly and remember doing something is better than doing nothing at all!

Structural Stability-The Secret to a Pain Free Life

Despite what most people believe restricted movement and physical pain or discomfort are not an unavoidable aspect of the ageing process. They are a warning sign that something is out of balance. As well as being a result of poor nourishment there is another far less talked about contributing factor.

Every single one of us has some degree of muscular imbalance. Genetic predisposition and lifestyle choices combine to create muscular strengths and weaknesses which over time compromise the structure of our bodies and can lead to inflammation, chronic pain and degeneration.

Everything from a sedentary or physically repetitive job, to imbalanced exercise programs and sports training techniques is very likely to put you at risk of a painful and debilitating future.

No matter what you do with your physical body it is essential to ensure that you work from a base of structural stability. Over the course of your lifetime your body naturally starts to repetitively recruit your strongest muscles which eventually become overtrained and overstrained. The beginning of the muscular pain cycle. At the same time your weaker muscles start to atrophy which can lead to joint instability and joint pain. Left unchecked these conditions eventually become chronic and leave you drug dependent and on the waiting list for surgery. Both persistent pain and drug use zap your energy and vitality and diminish your quality of life.

If you listen to your bodies warning signals and always seek advice from experts in training, or rehabilitation if you are already at that point, you can avoid what we are taught to think of as an inevitable part of growing older. Given the right tools your body is actually designed to age healthfully and painlessly.

Taking Care of Your Home & the Planet

The subject of toxification is so much more significant than I ever imagined but if you think about it it makes perfect sense. Almost everything that is toxic to our bodies and our home environment also has a toxic effect on the environment we live in and equally everything we pollute the planet with comes back to us as toxic to our bodies through the air we breath and our water supply. So every toxic practise we participate in actually comes back to personally impact our health and well-being.

We are all aware of the obvious problems like our cars, our appliances and our waste products (which we try to recycle) but have you ever thought about the less talked about impact of our everday toxic habits?

Have you ever thought about what you put on your skin?

Deodorant, shampoo, skincare, sunscreen, shaving lotion, fake tan, make-up, hair colour, toothpaste, laundry detergents, insect repellent etc etc every single time you put one of these items on your skin you are poisoning yourself. They can be seen in your blood stream within minutes. Just try this quick (non-toxic) test with your kids; rub your feet with garlic and within 10 minutes it will have travelled right through your body and you will have garlic breath.

What about what you are inhaling?

Do you ever think about how many toxins you voluntarily inhale everyday. What about all those things you just put on your skin? Did you know you inhaled them as well? Then there are all the things you breath in through the rest of your day like cleaning products, air fresheners, insect sprays, house hold products like paint, lubricants, glues, gardening products like weed killers, fertilizers, bug sprays. My lungs hurt just thinking about it.

What about the toxic things we eat?

Yes that’s right. So much of what we call food these days is just a chemical cocktail manufactured in factories that not only pump out toxic food products for us to eat but also create more toxic waste with packaging and the toxic byproducts from the manufacturing process. This also applies to the factories that supply the things we put on our skin and inhale through our lunges.

So there we have it! Everything toxic thing we put in our mouth, apply to our skin or inhale through the day doesn’t just poison us once. We are poisoned when we use it, we are poisoned again by the pollution caused by the toxins produced creating those products and we are poisoned by the toxins produced by the waste from all that packaging. If we don’t take the steps to cleanse our bodies of these toxins they build up and have an accumulative efffect on our health.

By now you must be asking how on earth there could be a simple solution to this dilemma????? STOP eating unhealthy prepackaged foods, wherever possible choose natural products purchased from people who don’t have factories (check your local market) look for simple alternate cleaning products like vinegar and before you use anything ask yourself how essential it is and if there is a better alternative. From plastic bags to furniture – reuse, recyle and repair everything you can!

Please don’t make the excuse of what about everyone else..for the sake of your own self respect be a part of the solution instead of the problem!

The Massive Benefits of Contributing Beyond Oursevles

If you live in Australia and you are a welfare recipient you are among the 7th richest people on the planet. The first time I heard this statistic I was totally blown away. It really put my life into perspective for me.

I am so grateful I live here in this beautiful place and that in the bigger sense of this planet I live somewhere where everyone of us is wealthy! For me contribution goes way beyond the obvious things like financial contribution and volunteering.

I believe that every single one of us has amazing gifts and qualities that we can share with each other. The last centre I owned was a Women’s Wellness Centre and  I had so many uplifting experiences there. The kind of experiences that help restore your faith in the infinite possibilities of human nature.

One of my favourite career memories is of our meditation group. At the end of class I would ask the girls to focus on a list of human qualities I had written on a whiteboard and hung in the room. They would all close their eyes, visualise the list and choose a quality that they felt was already an inherent part of their nature or one they would like to develop. We would all then make a committment to ourselves and each other to do our best to purposefully share that quality as often as possible, every day for the coming week with the people in our lives.

Each week before class we would share stories. The happiness that was spread to so many people through that group of women was totally inspiring to everyone. Our little town had the happiest checkout chicks, postal workers, parking officers (just kidding) but you get the picture and seeing my ladies recognize their self worth and develop their self esteem like that was a wonderful experience for me. I can promise you that contributing to someone elses happiness is the best feeling on earth. Just try it for a day!

My grandmother would always say to me, “What you do always comes back to you!” The profoundness of that statement is immense. If you could live your life by it you would surely enjoy a life well lived. When applied to almost any subject the result is the same. If you give happiness to others they feel happy which makes you feel happy. If you take care of yourself and the planet you will enjoy better health which will increase the health of the planet which benefits  everyone living on it. Now I understand what my Pop meant by things coming full circle. My grandparents died almost 30 years ago but they are still contributing to my life every day. What legacy will you leave for your children and their children’s children?

The fact that you have taken the time to read this tells me you are probably already an amazing contributing factor to yourself and every one around you…. GOD BLESS YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!!!!!!

to Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of health and healing, the Kapha Dosha (humour) is primarily responsible for fat and adipose tissue in the body and therefore reducing Kapaha is the key to a successful weight loss program. Below you will find some effective tips from ayurveda to help reduce Kapha Dosha and thus battle obesity and being overweight.

Of the four dimensions of our being, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, in this article I will cover the Physical Dimension which is most important for the reduction of Kapha and the correlating reduction in weight.

Weight Loss Tips from Ayurveda:

1. Ayurvedic Diet for Weight Loss:

Obviously an anti-kapha diet is the place to start when looking to lose weight. This means eating lots of fruits, vegetables, spicy foods and whole grains.

2. Exercise for Weight Loss:

The following Ayurvedic guidelines should be followed for proper exercise with regard to weight loss:

* More Exercise the Better: Kapha\’s qualities of fixed, dull, heavy, soft and cold are all negated via exercise. In other words, the more exercise you do the more you reduce Kapha and therefore fat in your body.

* Exercise Without Excessive Strain: According to Ayurveda, Kapha individuals need the most vigorous exercise, but at the same time, the exercise should never be extreme. Find a good balance between doing too little and over doing it. Breaking a nice sweat is good, but being totally breathless is probably too much.

* Be Consistent: A Kapha body type has a propensity towards weight gain so you need to make exercise a daily part of you life. The hardest part will be to get the exercise program underway. Once this is done Kapha people tend to be very determined and steady, so they will be able to adhere to it long term. Getting started though is another matter for Kapha types and usually requires shock treatment. In the spirit of shock treatment, understand that by NOT exercising and NOT losing the weight you are putting your longevity and quality of life at risk. Enough said, start today!

* Yoga for Weight Loss: Yoga offers an excellent way to include holistic exercises into your fitness program. These exercises will not just help you lose weight, but will also help your overall health and well-being.

* Post Exercise Diet: After exercises do not drink cold liquids. This period is key as you are trying to increase the metabolic fire in your cells so they burn more calories and drinking cold liquids at this time will negate this important benefit which exercise bestows.

3. Hard Physical Work to Burn Calories:

According to Ayurveda reduction of Kapha is promoted by living a physical, active lifestyle. In today\’s age of technology, computers, TVs, TiVO, internet, etc, manual labor is getting more rare for people to do. So you need to consciously incorporate physical work into your life. Whether that be mowing the lawn, tending to the garden or shoveling snow, it is important to not live a sedentary live of watching TV and eating twinkies.

4. Massage Therapy to Reduce Fat:

There are many treatment modalities in Ayurveda of which massage is highly recommended. In the context of weight loss and reducing Kapha, strong massage with light oils such as mustard or flaxseed is helpful.

5. Sleep Guidelines for Weight Loss:

No napping or going to bed early. If you want to reduce Kapha and weight remember you burn more calories when you are awake and being active, than when you are happily snuggled under the blanket.
